I wanted to find out which backlink indexing strategies work.
So I tested 14 popular indexing methods – but only 3 actually indexed URLs .
You see:
I built a script that automatically generated 200 pages of junk lorem ipsum content on 15 brand new domains:
Here’s an example of what each of the 200 pages looked like after it had been generated by the script:
As you can see, it’s complete spam and each page has 300 words of lorem ipsum content on a brand new domain but zero:
Absolutely nothing!
The idea was to generate the worst possible pages and see which indexers could get Google to crawl AND index the content.

We took all 200 URLs of junk content from the 15 domains and submitted them to different backlink indexers.
This is how we measured the results:
What Will I Learn?
Here is a quick overview of all the data at the end of the test on day 14.
During the test, we only saw visits from Google’s mobile crawler, so we have removed references to that in the data below for simplification.
All of GoogleBots’ visits came from their mobile crawler.
Interestingly submitting the urls to Google’s own tools (pagespeed, rich results, mobile friendly) triggered the Googlebot to visit and crawl all the pages.
However none of them were indexed using Googles own tools.
Ultimately there were 3 tools that stood out:
Out of the 14 indexing methods we tested, only 4 of them brought Google’s bots and only 3 of them actually indexed URL’s.

These were the only services that triggered both a visit from Google and the actual indexing of the junk lorem ipsum pages we built.
NONE OF THE OTHER TESTED SERVICES TRIGGERED A SINGLE VISIT FROM GOOGLEBOT
Interestingly using Google’s own tools did trigger visits from Googlebot, but resulted in a 0% indexing rate. Perhaps if the pages were not junk lorem ipsum text they might have gotten indexed.

What is your thought on Instant Link Indexer? I used it and it worked pretty well but I did not see a 50% index rate.Additionally, ignore the arm chair commandos in the comments.

I learned a lot from the post. One of the things is people are rude, but that will never change. At least the owner was kind enough to continue replying at the point I would have stopped.I just add my backlinks (pages links are on) to google url submit. Gotta be logged in. Seems like they get indexed immediately. Same with new business directory pages our company creaates listings in. I submit them also. They are immediately indexed. When I don’t do that it takes a lot longer. I might have drifted off topic. I think we are talking about the same thing. Anyway, hope you all have a great day. They are much better than “not so great” days.My 2 cents, usually only worth 1 cent.

I get what dude is saying. I also get the fact that you gotta pay for your time. All included – I Will Try A Few Out and see what the results are.Otherside of the comments – PR and DA/PA of the links could reflect the indexing as well. I trusted you did this as all your other test with that fact in place. Sites being crawled and your link being there vs. indexing. I actually think this was a quite good review inspite nutjobs rantingsFor these reasons: If you check the search engines for indexing services one or two of the crap ones rank at the top.If you are a noob to seo you might well assume these are the better ones.Also as matt explained quite a few people mentioned pinging as a good way to go, so his result here proves contrary, obviously people in the know are privvy to such knowledge but the vast majority simply do not know so what he did here was a worthwhile exercise.My only gripe with this test is that you did not pit the best indexing services against each other, as then we would have had a definitive answer, maybe that might be something to consider and would definitely add value for your readers.All the same great job and I enjoy reading what you have to say.

I would like to see a post concerning non-subscription methods. Is there a software or combination of plugins that can be bought for a one-off fee that comes close?
Not that I’m aware of other than just building links to your backlinks
Normally a big fan of your content but this post is misleading. As many have said not providing proper comparisons leads to a very misleading study. I see you still have no update to this post and leaving this up in its current state is a disservice to your readers. I would either take it down or put a big disclaimer at the top saying this case study is not representative of the best indexing services on the market so people dont just rush out to buy what, according to your flawed study, looks like obviously the best indexer.Judging from the comments of this article, the damage has already been done as people have blindly trusted that you had done the ultimate test and that the service your promoting is clearly superior to anything on the market.
I will publish a follow up at some point but for the here and now that was the test I ran, those were the results I have had and the comments are in place for anyone to read!

I suppose it depends on the quality of the accounts and how often Google spiders them AND if Google deems it worthy of indexing
