How To Steal AI Overview Rankings

I’m going to show you how to steal your competitors AI Overview rankings with a simple 60 second process.

Now, lets face it, Google’s AI Overviews are taking over and reducing your search traffic.

BUT, it’s surprisingly easy to reclaim that lost traffic by stealing your competitors AI Overview rankings, so let me walk you through the process step by step.

First you need to find keywords that you already rank for on the first page, but where you don’t appear in the AI Overview at the top like this.

You can do that in Google Search Console with a filter like this and then manually search for the keywords to see if there is an AI overview present OR you can use the Ahrefs organic keywords report and select the “AI Overview” feature where the target doesn’t rank.

Here you can see that the “White Label SEO Programs” keyword is a good candidate because we already rank on the first page but do not appear in the AI overview section which we can also confirm for ourselves by looking at the live search results.

Once you have a target keyword, stealing the AI Overview is very easy.

First, I’m going to copy the opening paragraph of text from the AI Overview here and then make a few minor edits like these that take seconds to do.

Then I’m going to go to my current content and update it with the new content like this, and then jump over to Google Search Console to request reindexing. Now you just need to wait 24 hours and then check the search results to see what has happened.

You can see I did the same thing with this keyword where I just copied the first paragraph, made a few tweaks like this and then swapped out this paragraph of text with the new one which allowed me to steal the AI overview position here.

And again with this keyword, I just followed the same process by editing the first paragraph of the AI overview and then updated my page with the new content like this to steal the AI Overview position here.

Now it doesn’t always work, and sometimes you might just end up stealing the number 2 position of the AI overview like I did with this keyword BUT this process takes less than 60 seconds to execute per keyword.
