HI Matthew, thank you. Easy to follow and a bit lost as to starting. No data, nearly new site, no keywords. Perhaps I need a new starting place or do I simply find keywords of relevance based on what I believe people would search for?

Hi, MattI felt like pouring out my anger, confusion, and silly mistake inside this box. “Smiles”A quick one: I bought this website with a good amount of traffic about 6000Pv/day. I did not bother to go deeper to check the traffic source, keywords, etcAfter purchase, I realized the blog was ranking in different languages. Just very little/irrelevant English keyword. Maybe I was too anxious to get a website. He has been using an auto-translation plugin translating into 400 different languages. He Decided to uninstall the plugin a few months before I became the new owner. After uninstalling plugin Zaaaaaa……….boohoos* should I call it plane crash or Search engine SEO crash.I tried installing the same plugin again but it wouldn’t bring back. I have to remove it again, Only adds more than hundreds of 404. Moreover, I want only the English language.Seriously Matt, I just need help! Hoping coming videos will make a significant impact.

Thank you so much for this video. I selected five keywords for my website out of the 2-19 positions but they have a low volume. Will those keywords help me?

  13. Carole King

Hi Matthew,My site is 11 years old. It’s a blog. I get quite decent traffic but mostly from Pinterest and other social sites. Hence my reason for doing this.I knew my google traffic was bad but apparently there is only one keyword I’m ranked for and it is years out of date and completely irrelevant. Not sure how I can continue or what I can do to improve this.

  14. Stephen Dakin

Lovely video – many thanks. From the comments above you mentioned Google Penalties. My site (www.makewoodgood.co.uk) has been suffering declining search volumes, and is currently showing core web vitals issues. I am assuming that these qualify as google penalties for search now – and that I need to get them sorted ASAP.

Hi Matt.I have 4281 keywords in positions 2-19.What is the process you apply to get to the 5 priority keywords?ThanksTrevor

    1. Matthew Woodward

First of all select the ones that have the most commerical relevance. Then filter down based on that!

  23. Tony

Can this be implemented on a brand new website, with little or no traffic and a few articles?

    1. Matthew Woodward

Yes, you can! But… remember that authority plays an important role when it comes to ranking. New website with no traffic = low authority which means that it will be extremely difficult for you to rank your content (even if you use this strategy). To be honest, this strategy would be more efficient if you already had a bit of traffic coming to your site and a good amount of published content.

  24. Martin

I found 721 opportunities but most of them are rando people asking rando questions. It’s been fairly easy to find which ones to target because of the weird niche we occupy.

    1. Matthew Woodward

      Great- Keep it up, Martin!

  25. Meghan

Hi Matthew,Thank you for this tool! I’m curious what your strategy is behind ‘Content Promotion’ noted in your Optional Strategies. Might be a silly question, but just want to make sure I’m understanding how you utilize this strategy – is it a simple as sharing on Social Media, or is there more to it? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hello Matthew!I Have a Blogging site that is 1.5 year old, I posted 30 articles last year but stopped after that due to work commitments, now from the past 5 months I started posting blogs again ,Currently I have 65 blogs on my site. I am going after underserved topics but the result aren’t that great, all traffic from Bing and yahoo, 10 organic user hardly.Built no backlinks should I keep going after underserved topic and give them some time to rank or move towards some other strategy? Thanks

    1. Matthew Woodward

Hi! Before taking any decision, you should check if your target keywords are generating traffic. If no one is searching/looking for your target keywords, your content will never get traffic and/or rank…

  30. Keith

Thanks for this, can’t wait for the next one.

  32. Mark

Hi Matthew, I am watching your videos with great interest.Since the end of June my site has had a sharp drop in traffic and is now “recovering” very slowly with ups and downs, do you think I can invest through guest posts as explained in your video “The Link Building Checklist” or is the site unrecoverable?By doing link building every month as explained in the video, how long will it take to see results?Do backlinks have to be relevant to my niche or are they also good on general sites?Thank you

    1. Matthew Woodward

Hey Mark, Do you know why your site lost its traffic? Was it because of a Google Penalty? If it was, you need to make sure you removed the penalty before doing anything else.If your site is really in recovery, as you said, then yes, you can start guest posting. It can take a few months to see the results (especially after a penalty). The backlinks need to be relevant to your niche, this is extremely important. You CANNOT build spammy/irrelevant backlinks anymore, it won’t give you results and it will put your site at risk.

    VERY NICE POST AND VIDEO

Thank you! Did you subscribe to the video training?

  36. Jo Macayan

Hi Matt,Will this work for newly built site/blog?My blog is just 2 months old and has about 8 posts.

    1. Matthew Woodward

Hi Jo! Hmm, it might be a bit early on to try this kind of strategy. I mean, you can still try (you have nothing to lose here) but don’t set up your expectations too high. Your website is still very new and doesn’t have much authority yet so it might be harder for you to get to the top.

  38. Lynn Titcombe

I got 134 using search console and have selected 5, they all have Yorkshire in them as that’s where we’re based. Is location an issue?

    1. Matthew Woodward

Hi Lynn, It is not an issue if you’re targeting local. Let me explain: if you own a business based in Yorkshire and try/want to attract clients from this area, targeting keywords with Yorkshire in them is a good thing. But if your target audience is national or global, then it can be an issue. So, it really depends on your goal.

I don’t have any yet because my site is in the process of being built. I would like to know how to go up against content that already ranks for your desired keywords, so you can outrank them. What are some of the best tips you would give me to get some new content ranking against existing content already doing well? Thank you for your help.
